My First Impression Of Ireland

It is only my first week in Ireland but I love it! Although it rains a lot, a few sunny hours a day and nice people makes the day just fine.

I am an intern at Cara international which is located in Castlebar, Co. Mayo. It’s really a small but very nice town (it is the biggest town in Mayo) with very lovely people. Everyone are really polite, so its normal to hear “sorry”, “thank you” and “cheers mate” on every step.

During rainy days you can simply go to gym, pool and spa, or you can just stay at home and enjoy in a company of other interns from the office. And yes, there are also sunny days in Ireland, which we like to spend out on trips or visiting some local sport matches. Although Dublin is three hours away with train, you can visit famous Cliffs of Moher and Galway which are both approximately an hour away.

And off course, there is also a night life in Castlebar. You can spend evenings in one of many pubs in a company of good Irish beer(s) and just talk with mates or you can find a pub with a live music and dance to the rhythms of Irish traditional music. There is also a disco in Castlebar for those who take dancing a little bit more seriously 

If I draw the line, for so far, my Irish experience is very good and I hope it continues in this way until the end of my internship at Cara international.

Au Pair experience

For most of the people Au Pair job seems to be simple, but not always it is, especially if you become an Au Pair in completely new country. Au Pair need to prepare to adapt to the new country, new family and need to get over the language barrier. For most of the girls language gives a lot of problems at the start, but later on you get used to it. Language school is the most useful tool to improve communication skills in English. When first week is over, girls are more than ready to be an Au Pair.

Saleta has been an Au Pair in Ireland for eight months and shares her experience. Saleta from her Au Pair experience characterizes Au Pair as patient, happy, kind and brave. She thinks easier way to adapt in the new family is by getting introduced with family and their routine. It is necessary to build friendly relationship with the family. Saleta school age child describes as very active, who loves to play and asks for an attention most of the time. For children entertainment she prefers to draw, to go for a walk, to ride a bike, and sometimes to watch television together with children. One of the Au Pair tasks also is to help children with their homework. Saleta was working in a family where children were studying in Irish. Unfortunately she could not help them. Every Au Pair also has to take care of every child health and safety. Saleta suggests paying an attention constantly to avoid injuries.

Au Pair job gives an amazing experience in child care and in the new culture. It is worth to try it.

Recommendation

I have been an intern in Cara International during 3 months. This internship has been pretty useful in order to develop several skills related with my studies in business and, of course, also to boost my CV.

An outstanding advantage of this internship is that you can learn from different departments and functions; so that you can improve skills related with either administration, marketing, Human Resources or Finance.

It is also very interesting the international atmosphere and have the chance to meet people with different background.

Overall, it was an enriching and rewarding experience both personally and professionally, and I strongly recommend students and recent graduates to take the internship at Cara International.

Go abroad? YEEES!

I have been abroad many times. Who not?!

Firstly as a tourist with my parents. We spent holidays by the beach in Italien riviera, sighseeing monuments in France and skiing in Austrian Alps. Nearly every year I could discover new places. I enjoyed it very much, of course!

Then in my teenage age, I started to travel with my friends. ( Of course my parents were a bit sad.). We started to visit neighbouring countries. Later we took plane and travel in further distances. We slept in camps, hostels trying to do the low cost holiday.

What are you expecing now? The holiday with my boyfriend or even with my children?!:-) Wrong! It can wait!

I take a advantage to travel and discover world from different point of view. I´ve started to study and work abroad!

English is not my native language and when I was 19 I applied for summer course in England. It took 7 weeks. I couldn´t imagine staying abroad alone and it made me so scared. Alone without friends, family. But it was the best decision  I have ever done! Meeting new people, living in host family, becoming more self-confident. It was different type of discovering country and culture. Not as the tourist, who books hotel, plane and stays in tourist places! I improved my English and  gain new friends. I was so excited and  open to do it again! And I did!

I started to study at university. I have been opened to go abroad again. As a university student you have more opprotunity to get work or internship. In these days it is very important to get attractive your CV and be better then others. You need experience and now it is the best time to do it!

I decided to go abroad and work as an intern in international company. I am gaining experince, having fun , improving language and travelling around. I am getting involved in culture, meeting local people in bus, pub or swimming pool. I am glad for the opportunity. You need to make decisoin and do it. It is a new style of life!
